That Beckham Deal Is Looking Better Every Day
It's been a while since we updated on the long journey from England for our superhero of soccer David Beckham. Let's see what ole Becks has been up to these days. I hope it involves some great soccer!!
David Beckham didn't dress, missing his scheduled Major League Soccer debut because of a lingering ankle injury that kept him on the bench Sunday night during the Los Angeles Galaxy's 0-0 tie with Toronto FC.Exactly how the MLS envisioned it I am sure. And no doubt the fans in attendance were just as thrilled.
Beckham wasn't among the starting 11 or seven substitutes for the game, played before a sellout crowd of 20,522. Instead the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star watched intently from the bench, dressed in a navy blue suit and red necktie. Beckham did not speak to reporters following the game.
Fans wearing England and Real Madrid jerseys with Beckham's name on the back dotted the stands at BMO Field, but they were drowned out by a partisan crowd who booed when Beckham was shown on the scoreboard. One fan wore a T-shirt that read "David Beckham is rubbish." (AP)Well, that's not very welcoming, people!
David Beckham has pissed off a lot of L.A. Galaxy fans that have paid and shown up to watch him play only to find out bitch is still on the bench. Fans have started bringing signs to games saying shit like "Welcome to America Becks Where You Get Paid To Do Nothing." HOT! Fans also booed him last night when he didn't play AGAIN.Patience. I think that is the common bond among American sports fans.
He said (in his squeaky voice), "I'd love to be out there on the field, especially with the number of fans here and the fact they've paid a lot of money to see the Galaxy. But I have to be careful with my injury. I'm here for five years and maybe more, so that's where people maybe have to be slightly patient." (Dlisted)
His trip wasn't a total washout though.
Beckham, who missed his scheduled Major League Soccer debut in a 0-0 tie against Toronto FC Sunday night due to a sore left ankle, walked through the Blue Jays' clubhouse about an hour before game time, signing a few autographs and chatting briefly with outfielder Vernon Wells.See he met Vernon Wells!
From there, Beckham walked across the field as the Yankees finished batting practice, stopping to speak with manager Joe Torre and posing for pictures with bench coach Don Mattingly. So basically he is a $250 million PR man to this point?
Torre escorted Beckham into the Yankees' clubhouse, where he spoke with Derek Jeter. Beckham even dropped by the umpires' room before returning to the field to pose for pictures while holding a Galaxy jersey.(AP)
There is hope though. For a TV career, I mean. He might just be playing the gay partner of Robbie Williams on Desperate Housewives!
Marc Cherry, who said Beckham picked the singer over his new American friend Tom Cruise, thinks the pair would be an ideal match: "David and Robbie are perfect to star as the new neighbours' best friends - the gorgeous, eccentric couple flown over from Blighty. (The Beautiful Game)So see, folks, your purchases of Galaxy tickets and Beckham jerseys won't go to waste. Just instead of watching soccer, you can root him on in his battles against Eva, Marcia, Teri, and that other not as hot chick!
At least he was well enough to show us how tough he is in this spot with Reggie Bush.
"F**k that hurt" said Becks in case you missed it. Understandable since Bush lightly tapped him and rolled him to the ground. Maybe those flops in soccer are real after all and the players are just giant pu**ies, because if that hurt Becks, then those phantom head-butts must really be painful.
