How Often Do You Think This Happens?

An athlete was stabbed while practicing for competition in the Pam Am Games. (Does anyone even know what the Pan Am Games are anymore?) While that might seem unusual, let me tell you the sport: fencing. It's all starting to come together now, isn't it?

From the AP:

The Brazilian fencer accidentally stabbed by his brother in a practice session for the Pan American Games was dropped from the competition on Wednesday.
Whoa ... whoa ... whoa ... stabbed by his brother? Accidentally? When a sibling (or a punter) stabs you, it's usually no accident.
Ivan Schwantes, who underwent surgery to drain blood and air from his lung after his brother's epee snapped near his right underarm on Monday, will remain hospitalized for at least another 72 hours, the Brazilian Olympic Committee said in a statement.

"We need to think about his health before anything else, so he won't participate in the games," Brazil's delegation chief Marcus Vinicius Freire said in the statement.
My, how thoughtful of them.
