An In-Depth Report On One Of The Real Stars Of The LPGA

With all this Michelle Wie nonsense, I thought we should devote a little space to a golfer who actually has a clear career path. Recently USA Today did a story called "A day in the life: Teeing it up with Natalie Gulbis", so we felt that for that reason and that reason alone, she was a worthy subject.

The highlights:

  • She starts off almost every day at 5:30 a.m.
  • She is 24 years-old.
  • She turned pro six years ago after a year at the University of Arizona she was working toward a minor in philosophy and wanted to go to law school.
  • She has never won on the LPGA Tour in 144 events.
  • Her dad has long hair and tattoos.
  • She loves to travel.
  • She has endorsement deals with multiple companies, including MasterCard, Canon, Anheuser-Busch, 24 Hour Fitness, Crowne Plaza Hotels, Outback Steakhouse and RSM McGladrey.
  • She has an extra vertebra in her back which makes her more flexible.
  • She makes her caddie a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before every day of the tournament.
  • She wears a golf shirt once or twice, then hands them over to her agents, who get anywhere from $50 to $500 in auctions benefiting charities.
Good stuff, huh? We know how fond our readers are of women's golf and wanted to make sure everyone knew as much as possible about this young, up-and-coming star of the LPGA.
