In their ongoing effort to not be outdone by the Indy Racing League, the gentlemen who bought CART racing (now the Champ Car World Series) are stepping it up a notch by delving into, get this, racing rockets.
Now it's only just a matter of time before we see this:

Champ Car Owner Kevin Kalkhoven Joins Board of Rocket Racing League (PRNewswire)
Bringing the experience of racing and the knowledge of advanced technology to the competition of rocket-propelled race-craft, entrepreneur Kevin N. Kalkhoven has joined the board of the Rocket Racing League(TM). The RRL is a first-of-its-kind aerospace sports and entertainment league formed by Granger Whitelaw, two-time Indy 500 champion team partner, and X PRIZE founder Peter Diamandis, renowned space travel enthusiast.Once he was officially on the board of the Rocket Racing League, Kalkhoven was heard shouting, "Beat that sh*t, Tony George! We gonna get f**kin' rockets, bitch!"*
As a co-owner of the Champ Car World Series and owner of PKV Racing within the league, Kalkhoven is intimately familiar with racing and the operation of an international racing league.
The Rocket Racing League (RRL) is an aerospace entertainment organization which combines the competition of racing with the excitement of rocketry.
