Finally A Sport For The Lazy
You may have noticed (if you did, wow!) that we added a new "sport" to our list of "Unique Sports" link way down on the bottom right side of our page here at OBOS.
We'd like to introduce the world to the "sport" of Skijoring!
What is Skijoring you say?
According to the Midwest Skijorers Club's Web site,
Skijoring translates as "ski driving". Its history derives from the Norwegians, Swedes, Fins and Laplanders. Skijoring has been done using horses and reindeer as well as dogs. It is currently used in reference to a skier pulled over snow by one or more dogs.In other words, it's skiing for very, very lazy people.
They even have a PowerPoint presentation and a PDF version of the PowerPoint presentation. I would be willing to bet it took more effort to pull together the presentation than it does to actually Skijor.
They actually have Skijoring (should that be capitalized?) races, in which I assume, means the skiier with the fastest dog wins?
Like what you're hearing? You can join them for just $20!
Your $20 Membership includes:Just be warned, the link entitled "Health" leads to a blank page, which makes sense since it seems you could pretty much do this sport with a Barcalounger on skis tied to a rope that's strapped to an Alaskan Huskie.
